Toronto on High Alert: Snow Squall Watch Issued as Winter Tightens Its Grip!

Toronto is bracing for more wintry weather as Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for the city. The agency warns of heavy bursts of snow and blowing snow, leading to reduced visibility throughout the afternoon and evening.

According to Environment Canada, transient lake effect snow squalls originating from Lake Huron may affect certain areas, causing visibility to drop significantly. Although the snowfall amounts are expected to be minimal, the impact on visibility could be severe under these squalls.

With northwesterly winds expected to reach speeds of 50 to 70 km/h, visibility could be reduced to near zero. As New Year’s Eve approaches, the city can expect cold and brisk conditions, with a forecasted daytime high of –4°C and an overnight low of –13°C. Wind chill values are predicted to hover around –15.
