Worker Hurt During Restoration Efforts at Richmond Condo Fire Site

A worker sustained serious injuries while carrying out repairs on a Richmond condo building that had previously suffered significant damage in a recent fire.

The incident took place at Fraser Place, a condominium complex in the Stevenston area of Richmond, where a large fire had erupted earlier in the month, causing displacement of several residents and injuries to two individuals on December 3rd.

Richmond Fire-Rescue deployed a substantial number of units to control the fire, which resulted in damage to approximately 18 units within the building.

On Monday, BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) responded to the site located on 7th Avenue near Georgia Street shortly after 9:50 a.m.

Brian Twaites, a spokesperson for BCEHS, stated, “Paramedics administered critical medical treatment to the injured worker, who was then transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.”

In a related development, WorkSafeBC confirmed that one of their officers was present at the scene to investigate the incident.

Additionally, On Side, a restoration service provider currently engaged in repair work at the condominium site, acknowledged the occurrence.

Although specific details are sparse, a spokesperson from On Side mentioned that a subcontractor was involved in the incident.
