Montrealers are gearing up to ring in the New Year amidst chilly weather conditions, as gusty winds and the possibility of light snow await them.

However, wind chills will make it feel significantly colder, nearing -22 degrees Celsius in the morning and -16 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
As the evening progresses, clouds are set to roll in, bringing with them overnight snowfall. Anticipated snowfall of 2 to 4 centimeters may result in slippery roads and walkways after the festive celebrations conclude. Overnight temperatures are expected to plummet to -13 degrees Celsius, with wind chills making it feel like -20 degrees Celsius.
The light snow is forecasted to taper off early on New Year’s Day, giving way to clear skies, although frigid temperatures around -14 degrees Celsius will persist. Overnight lows could dip as far down as -23 degrees Celsius.
The cold snap will extend into the weekend, with clear skies prevailing through Friday and Saturday and daytime highs resting at around -14 degrees Celsius. Sunday is expected to bring more cloud cover, followed by the possibility of snow in the early part of the following week. By Monday, slightly warmer temperatures are on the horizon, with highs nearing -7 degrees Celsius.
Residents are urged to bundle up and prepare for wintry conditions as they usher in the New Year in the midst of the cold spell.
