“Mysterious Veil Descends: Metro Vancouver Shrouded in Dense Fog Alert”

Be prepared for foggy weather in Metro Vancouver as Environment and Climate Change Canada issues a warning on Wednesday morning. The fog advisory covers areas including Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey, with near-zero visibility expected from Horseshoe Bay to Point Grey.

According to ECCC, a ridge of high pressure is causing cool, humid marine air to mix with a warm airmass, leading to widespread fog across Metro Vancouver.

This ‘yellow-level’ fog advisory is anticipated to persist until late morning as temperatures begin to rise. Meteorologist Carl Lam from 1130 NewsRadio describes this fog as just the beginning of a damp start to the new year.

Lam forecasts upcoming rainfall on Friday and Saturday, with each day expecting 10 to 20 millimetres of precipitation. Additionally, he warns of gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kilometres per hour, particularly near the coast over the weekend.

While the fog persists, low visibility poses risks to travelers, and ECCC advises allowing extra time for journeys. Stay updated with weather alerts by tuning in to 1130 NewsRadio Vancouver or following @CityNewsVan and Meteorologist Michael Kuss for the latest updates.
