Ontario Player Wins $80 Million Lotto Jackpot for the First Time
Luck struck an Ontario player as they scored the $80 million Lotto Max jackpot, breaking a streak of draws without a winner. The winning ticket, sold in London, Ont. on Dec. 30, made headlines across the province.
This victory marked the second time the massive $80 million jackpot had been snagged by a single ticket holder. The previous instance was on May 9, 2025, when a sole winner in British Columbia claimed the grand prize.
The excitement didn’t end with the jackpot win; other players across Ontario also cashed in on Maxmillions and Encore prizes from the same draw. Seven lucky individuals secured Maxmillion prizes, each valued at $1 million, with winning tickets purchased in Hamilton, Barrie, Thornhill, the Prince Edward County/Hastings area, the Niagara area, and two in Toronto.
