“Breakthrough in Labor Dispute: STM Professionals’ Union Ends Overtime Strike with Tentative Agreement”

The STM professional workers’ union has called off their overtime strike following a preliminary agreement with STM management. The Syndicat des employées et employés professionnels-les et de bureau, section locale 610 (SEPB-610), announced the resolution in a press release on Friday, revealing that the deal was finalized on Dec. 31.

SEPB-610 emphasized that they would not disclose specific terms of the agreement at this time, as they plan to consult their members first. Marc Glogowski, the president of SEPB-610, stated, “Our members will have the final say. We are arranging a prompt meeting to allow our members to vote on the agreement.”

Approximately 800 workers represented by SEPB-610 had been on strike since Dec. 17, with the strike scheduled to continue until Jan. 11. Throughout the strike, concerns were raised about potential disruptions to STM services due to the prolonged labor action.
