Empty Beer Cans and 3-Wheeled Truck Spark Impaired Driving Arrest on QEW

A man from Hamilton is in hot water after being caught driving a pickup truck on just three wheels along a major highway on New Year’s Eve. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to the situation when concerned drivers reported the damaged truck heading towards Toronto on the QEW near Welland Avenue in St. Catharines around 11:20 p.m.

Officials managed to intercept the truck near Bartlett Avenue in Grimsby, where they apprehended the 47-year-old driver. The OPP alleges that he was not only impaired but also had a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit. Shockingly, further investigation revealed that his driver’s license had been suspended for a whopping 25 years, dating back to 2001.

The man is now facing a slew of charges, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and driving with a suspended license. The OPP expressed gratitude towards the responsible motorists who made safe transportation arrangements on New Year’s Eve, while emphasizing that those caught driving under the influence will be dealt with severely.
