Shooting in Surrey’s Newton Area Sends Man to Hospital in Emergency Response

Authorities in Surrey’s Newton area are currently looking into a shooting incident that unfolded on Thursday evening.

The incident unfolded just before midnight when local law enforcement received multiple reports of gunshots being fired within a residence located in the vicinity of 140B Street and 59th Avenue.

Upon their swift arrival at the scene, officers discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot injury. The injured individual was promptly transported to a medical facility, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

A suspect was apprehended by the authorities at the location of the shooting.

While the investigation is still in its preliminary phase, officials have indicated that they do not suspect any extortion-related motives in the incident. It remains unclear whether the individuals involved were acquainted or if they resided at the property in question.

Notably, this shooting was one of two separate incidents that occurred in the city over a short span of time.
