The Montreal Children’s Hospital Raises Alarm Over Measles Exposure
The Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) has issued a warning regarding a potential measles exposure incident. According to the hospital, individuals who were present in the pediatric emergency room at Glen B block, level S1 on New Year’s Day between 12:18 p.m. and 11:01 p.m. may have been exposed to the virus.
Measles, a highly contagious disease that can be transmitted through the air, poses a significant health risk, emphasizes the MCH.
This alert comes in the wake of confirmed measles cases in Quebec, specifically linked to a pediatric medical center in St-Eustache.
In a concerning trend, Canada reported over 5,300 cases of measles in 2025, with a majority of cases concentrated in Ontario and Alberta. Quebec itself witnessed 36 cases during an outbreak earlier in the same year.
Both the Quebec government and the Montreal Children’s Hospital stress the importance of vaccination as the most effective preventive measure against measles.
