“Showdown in Nunavik: Suspect Faces Court After Police Shootout”

A tragic incident in northern Quebec has led to a court appearance for a 36-year-old man following an exchange of gunfire with Nunavik Police Service officers. The incident, which occurred on Dec. 20, resulted in the death of a six-year-old girl found injured in a home in Inukjuak, Que., after the shooting.

Andrew Naluktuk is facing charges for discharging a firearm at officers, assaulting them with a weapon, assault against another individual, and causing bodily harm to a child.

Authorities reported that the Nunavik officers engaged in a shootout with an individual outside a residence in response to a call about a potential threat to occupants. The individual was injured and arrested during the intervention, while a second person inside the home sustained serious injuries and later passed away. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
