“Traffic Alert: Major Lane Closures on Charles-De Gaulle Bridge This Weekend!”

As the new year rolls in, many individuals contemplate making changes in their lives. However, for Montreal’s roadways, a different kind of transformation awaits. Transport Quebec has announced lane closures on Highway 40 at the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge for the upcoming weekend.

Scheduled between 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, and 4 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, one of the three lanes on Highway 40, stretching from Gouin Boulevard East to Route 344 (Saint-Charles Road), will be inaccessible.

During this period, motorists can expect slightly narrower lanes and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h in both directions to accommodate repair work on the bridge.

Authorities have advised that the construction area may be under police monitoring, with a speed camera in place to ensure the safety of construction personnel.

Drivers should anticipate traffic delays and are urged to check Québec 511 for route planning, as roadwork may be rescheduled due to inclement weather conditions.
