Yuri Fulmer, the Chancellor of Capilano University and a seasoned entrepreneur, has announced his candidacy to lead the British Columbia Conservative Party.
Fulmer recently unveiled his campaign website, where he shared his vision for the province and his reasons for stepping into the leadership race. “I believe in the potential of our province and the strength of our people,” Fulmer expressed on his website.
Citing concerns about the province’s management, Fulmer highlighted his extensive business background and unwavering commitment to conservative principles. He aims to guide the Conservative Party of BC towards success, promising to bring back prosperity, freedom, and common sense to British Columbia.
His proposed agenda includes advocating for lower taxes, safer communities, and improved healthcare services, among other priorities.
In the 2024 provincial election, Fulmer contested as the B.C. Conservative candidate in West Vancouver-Sea to Sky but was defeated by BC Green candidate Jeremy Valeriote.
The British Columbia Conservatives have recently established a leadership election organizing committee, signaling the beginning of a competitive leadership race. Notable figures like former Pattison Food Group president Darrell Jones and Abbotsford-Langley MLA Harman Bhangu have also expressed their intent to vie for the party’s leadership position.
Meanwhile, the federal Conservative Party member and MP for North Island—Powell River, Aaron Gunn, has decided against running for the leadership role.
