Montreal’s Popular INFO-Neige App Goes Premium: City Pulls Plug on Funding!

Montreal Residents Unhappy as INFO-Neige App Transitions to Paid Subscription Model

The popular INFO-Neige app, known for its real-time snow removal operation tracking, has shifted to a paid model following the City of Montreal’s decision to cease financial backing.

Now, users are required to pay $4.99 for six months of access to the app, a decision that has sparked criticism from some residents.

Originally created around ten years ago after winning a hackathon focused on enhancing snow removal monitoring, INFO-Neige became integrated into Montreal’s services during the winter of 2014-2015. However, the $75,000 contract for the 2024-2025 period lapsed in April 2025 and was not extended.

Despite Montreal withdrawing its support, INFO-Neige remains operational in other areas such as Laval and Terrebonne, where financial backing from local authorities sustains the app.
