Police Hunt for Hit-and-Run Driver After Woman Fatally Struck on Highway 401 in Mississauga

Authorities in Ontario are seeking the driver involved in a tragic incident on Highway 401 in Mississauga, where a woman fell from a moving vehicle and was fatally struck by another vehicle.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the collision occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. last Thursday in the eastbound collectors’ lanes near Dixie Road on the 401.

The victim, a 32-year-old woman from Ottawa, fell out of a moving vehicle before being hit by a separate vehicle. OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt expressed that they are actively searching for the driver responsible for striking the woman.

Sgt. Schmidt emphasized, “It’s possible the driver was unaware of what transpired. We believe they may not have realized their involvement, but we urge them to come forward to assist in concluding the investigation and providing closure.”

The vehicle in question is described as a light-colored Toyota or Nissan sedan that likely sustained damage to the front driver’s side during the incident.
