Breaking News: Quebec Legislator François Tremblay Detained on DUI Charges

An elected official from the Coalition Avenir Québec party, representing the Dubuc constituency in Quebec’s Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Wednesday night. Reports indicate that François Tremblay was found to have a blood alcohol level nearly double the legal limit when he was stopped by the police.

The Chief Whip of the Legault government, François Jacques, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that all options regarding Tremblay’s future are under consideration. While not confirming the identity of the official involved, the Saguenay Police Service disclosed that a man in his 50s was arrested in the La Baie borough after an incident involving contact with an inanimate object and getting stuck in a snowbank.

Despite being released with a summons to court and a suspended driver’s license, Tremblay’s political future hangs in the balance as the government assesses the situation. Tremblay has served as an MNA under the Coalition Avenir Québec banner since 2018.
