A Montreal man with a history of supporting terrorist organizations is facing new charges at the provincial level. Mohammed Abdullah Warsame, 51, has been charged with making threats and terrorism-related offenses for allegedly threatening to burn down Passport Canada offices in Montreal during a phone call on Nov. 20.
Warsame, who had previously pleaded guilty in the U.S. to supporting al-Qaida in 2009, is also facing charges for expressing intentions to make and use explosives on public transit to cause harm. Despite being deported to Canada in 2010, Warsame remains entangled in legal troubles.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Warsame, a Canadian of Somali descent, had ties to Osama Bin Laden and spent over seven years in an American federal prison for his previous support of al-Qaida.
