Second Suspect Arrested in Tragic Fatal Stabbing Case in Oshawa

Durham Police Charge Second Suspect in Oshawa Stabbing Death

Durham Regional Police Service has made a significant development in the case of a fatal stabbing that occurred in Oshawa late last year. The incident, which took place on December 23, 2025, resulted in the death of 44-year-old Jeremy Russell, who was found with critical injuries near Park Road South and John Street West.

Following the initial arrest of Nicholas Robbins, 33, on charges of second-degree murder, a second suspect, Michael Waterman, 44, was apprehended in connection with a separate homicide investigation. However, on January 5, 2026, Durham police took custody of Waterman and charged him specifically in relation to Russell’s death.

Investigators have revealed that the victim and both suspects were acquainted with each other, shedding light on the nature of their relationship. Waterman now faces a single count of second-degree murder in connection with the tragic incident.
