Two kite surfers were safely rescued by emergency crews at Cherry Beach after getting into trouble on Lake Ontario. The incident occurred on a windy Friday afternoon, drawing attention from bystanders who noticed the surfers struggling to return to shore.
A quick emergency call prompted the dispatch of Toronto Fire and police units to Cherry Beach Clarke Beach Park around 3:40 p.m. One of the kite surfers was rescued by the Toronto Fire boat, while the other was brought back to shore with the assistance of the Toronto police Marine Unit.
Fortunately, both surfers escaped the ordeal unharmed and did not require hospitalization.
