Get ready for a night of roadwork! Transport Quebec has announced a major repair project that will impact part of Highway 25, specifically the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel. Starting at 10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, and running through to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, this closure is necessary for crucial maintenance and inspections to be conducted on the tunnel.
If you’re planning to travel during this time, be aware that Highway 25 heading towards the South Shore will be completely shut down between Exit 4 (Montreal downtown, Jacques Cartier Bridge) and the entrance from Île Charron. Similarly, the section of Highway 25 heading towards Montreal between Exit 90 (Highway 20 West, Route 132, La Prairie, USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau airport) and the entrance from Notre-Dame Street will also be inaccessible.
Don’t forget that the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will be off-limits in both directions while the repairs are underway. To make things even more interesting, eastbound Souligny Avenue will be closed 30 minutes before the full closure of Highway 25 in both directions between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand Streets.
As always, keep an eye on the weather and potential delays. Stay informed by checking Quebec 511 before you hit the road.
