“Commuter Chaos: TTC Line 6 Finch West Paralyzed by Switch Malfunction”

Monday morning saw a major disruption for commuters as Line 6 Finch West faced extended shutdowns, leading to significant delays in transit services. The ongoing issue, stemming from a switch problem, began early in the day and continued for several hours, leaving riders uncertain about when normal service would resume.

The trouble started at 5:30 a.m. when the TTC announced that trains between Finch West and Humber College stations were not running due to the switch problem. By 8:02 a.m., the TTC confirmed that the situation had not been resolved, resulting in a complete shutdown of Line 6.

As of 8:12 AM, commuters were informed that there was still no service between Finch West and Humber College stations, with shuttle buses in place to assist passengers during the disruption.

Metrolinx, responsible for the Finch West LRT infrastructure, has deployed maintenance crews to address and rectify the switch problem, though the exact cause of the issue remains unknown. Officials have yet to provide a specific timeline for the resumption of train services.

In the interim, the TTC has arranged for 27 shuttle buses to cover the affected route, running between Finch West and Humber College. However, passengers are advised to expect longer travel times and potentially crowded conditions during the morning rush period.
