“High Stakes Bail Bid Looms as Accused in Ryan Wedding Case Faces Extradition Showdown”

A man from Ontario, accused of being involved in money laundering for an international drug smuggling ring, is preparing to seek release before his extradition hearing. Rolan Sokolovski, 37, was arrested last autumn, along with other Canadians allegedly linked to former Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding, who is on the FBI’s most wanted list for drug-related crimes.

According to U.S. authorities, Sokolovski managed the organization’s finances, procured luxury items for Wedding, and even created a “bejeweled necklace” as payment for a murder. His legal team recently requested the court to keep the identities of his potential sureties confidential, citing concerns for their safety.

While the defense argued for full anonymity, the prosecution proposed that only the addresses of the sureties should be withheld from the public. The judge is expected to deliver a decision on this matter today, as the bail hearing unfolds in a downtown Toronto courthouse.
