Authorities in Langley are currently conducting an investigation following a traffic incident early Tuesday morning where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 1.
According to RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, the collision occurred close to 256 Street shortly after 5:30 a.m. The circumstances leading to the pedestrian being on the highway remain a key aspect of the investigation.
The injured pedestrian was swiftly taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, the driver involved in the incident stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. Sgt. Sharoom mentioned that adverse weather conditions, particularly rain and poor visibility, are being evaluated as contributing factors to the collision, ruling out alcohol involvement.
The investigative team is anticipated to be present at the scene until around 9 or 10 a.m., causing potential delays for drivers traveling eastbound.
