Quebec Filmmakers Explore Sicily and Sardinia in New Documentary
Quebec filmmakers Martin Généreux and Michèle Deguise recently unveiled their latest travel documentary, “Sicile et Sardaigne,” where they journey through the captivating landscapes of Italy’s famous islands. From the ancient ruins of Agrigento to the tranquil coast of Cefalù and the turquoise waters of Sardegna, the couple’s exploration also includes the majestic Mount Etna and picturesque locations like Procida and the Aeolian Islands.
In a departure from traditional travel documentaries, Généreux and Deguise offer a personal perspective, inviting viewers to experience Italy through their eyes. “It’s like you were sitting in the back of our car. So you come with us, it’s really immersive,” explained Généreux.
To celebrate the unique storytelling approach of their documentary, a special screening was held at Cinéma Beaubien, featuring live performances by Montreal singer-songwriter Marco Calliari. The event captured the essence of Italy through music, dance, and film, creating a vibrant and engaging experience for attendees.
For those eager to join the adventure, additional screenings of “Sicile et Sardaigne” will be held at various movie theatres across Quebec until Feb. 11. A list of locations can be found on the couple’s website, inviting audiences to embark on a journey filled with history, culture, and the warm hospitality of the Italian people.
