“License Revoked: Richmond Travel Agency Shut Down Following Investigation”

Provincial Authorities Revoke License of Richmond Travel Agency

In a rare move, provincial authorities have taken action against a travel agency located in Richmond. Consumer Protection BC announced on Monday that it had decided to pull the license of Vegas Vacations, a business operating out of the Lansdowne Centre.

The non-profit regulator expressed serious concerns about the agency, citing worries about its financial stability and ability to provide travel services. The license cancellation, effective as of January 9, 2026, was attributed to Vegas Vacations having insufficient capital to sustain its operations.

Consumer Protection BC’s initial intervention occurred late last year when the agency’s license was suspended due to a failure to submit financial statements for 2024 and 2025. Although Vegas Vacations eventually provided the required documentation, further examination by the regulator raised red flags leading to the ultimate decision to revoke the license.

Aside from the financial concerns, the regulator highlighted additional issues, including customer complaints and evidence indicating problems with Vegas Vacation Ltd’s capacity to fulfill its responsibilities as a travel agent. It was revealed that the agency had accepted customer payments without securing the corresponding travel bookings.

Consumer Protection BC advised customers to verify the status of reservations made through Vegas Vacations to ensure that their travel arrangements are in order.
