Darkangelo Clinches Thrilling 2-1 Victory for Victoire Against Charge

The Montreal Victoire claimed a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Charge in an intense Professional Women’s Hockey League match at Place Bell on Tuesday night. Shiann Darkangelo shone with a goal and an assist, showcasing her talent on the ice.

Darkangelo, who previously played for the Charge, had a standout performance for Montreal, contributing significantly to their win. Jessica Digirolamo also found the back of the net for the Victoire, securing their third consecutive victory. Goalkeeper Ann-Renee Desbiens put on a solid display with 16 saves.

On the opposing side, Ronja Savolainen scored the lone goal for the Charge, ending their impressive six-game winning streak. Gwyneth Philips displayed exceptional goalkeeping skills, making 29 saves and leading the PWHL in saves for the season.

The game saw Darkangelo netting a power-play goal early on, followed by DiGirolamo extending Montreal’s lead with a skillful effort. Despite a late goal from Savolainen for Ottawa, the Charge struggled to match Montreal’s offensive prowess throughout the game.

Montreal dominated the second period with multiple scoring opportunities, outshooting Ottawa significantly. The Charge failed to mount a substantial comeback in the final period, ultimately falling short in their offensive efforts.

One notable absence in the game was top-line forward Abby Roque, serving a one-game suspension for a prior match penalty. Montreal’s victory propelled them from last place to a tie for second in the PWHL, showcasing their resilience and scoring depth.
