“Highway Havoc: Overpass Struck by Rogue Truck Driver Near Surrey”

The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is currently investigating a recent incident involving a commercial truck that collided with an overpass on Highway 1 near Surrey early Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the driver of the truck crashed into the 192 Street overpass, causing visible damage, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Eyewitnesses stated that the truck struck the overpass while hauling an excavator on its flatdeck trailer.

As a result of the collision, the right eastbound lane has been closed by police, leading to potential delays for drivers in the area. The BCHP has informed the provincial Ministry of Transportation, which is actively involved in ensuring the safety of the roadway post-incident.

Cpl. Michael McLaughlin remarked, “Police are collaborating with CVSE (Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement) to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and to implement necessary enforcement measures.”

Official records suggest that this incident might mark the first overpass strike on a British Columbia highway this year.
