“Drunk Driver Arrested Following Dramatic Solo Crash in Abbotsford”

Abbotsford Man Arrested for Impaired Driving After Crash

A 39-year-old man was apprehended by Abbotsford police on Tuesday following a single-vehicle collision allegedly caused by impaired driving.

The incident unfolded in the early hours near Saddle Park on Old Clayburn Road, where officers discovered a crashed vehicle but no sign of the driver initially. The man, believed to be the sole occupant of the car, was later located by authorities before attempting to flee.

In a concerning revelation, police disclosed that the individual could be on the verge of his fifth impaired driving charge in less than four years. Despite recently completing a driving suspension on Jan. 6, the man was found to be without a valid driver’s license.

The Abbotsford Police Department is pushing for criminal charges of refusing to comply with a demand and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

This latest incident is part of a worrying trend, with 51 impaired drivers already apprehended by police in Abbotsford just this year. The AbbyPD has expressed frustration, stating that existing penalties seem insufficient in deterring individuals from endangering lives by driving under the influence.

Law enforcement extended gratitude to the public for their vigilance in reporting suspected impaired drivers over the past fortnight.
