Two individuals selling valuable electronics via Facebook Marketplace were met with a terrifying ordeal when a violent attempted robbery unfolded, as per a recent report by the Barrie police.
According to investigators, the pair had listed a high-end computer graphics card valued at approximately $5,000 for sale on the platform. They arranged to meet a potential buyer at a plaza located on Cundles Road East on Wednesday, January 14.
As the sellers engaged with one of the supposed buyers, a second individual arrived and tried to snatch the graphics card. A scuffle ensued, leading to the second individual brandishing a firearm and aiming it at the victims.
The altercation resulted in one victim being assaulted and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, detailed the police release.
The two suspects hastily fled in a westward direction without obtaining any loot.
One of the suspects is depicted as a Black male with shoulder-length red/orange dreadlocks, a slender physique standing at around five foot six. The individual is estimated to be in his late teens to early 20s, dressed in a black hooded coat with grey underarms, a black medical face mask, light grey Nike track pants, and black shoes with white soles.
The other suspect is described as a Black male with a medium/athletic build, approximately six feet tall, and believed to be in his mid to late 20s. He sported a black hooded sweater beneath a glossy black puffy coat, a black face covering, black skinny track pants, and white and pink running shoes.
Although a black Volkswagen Golf was observed fleeing the scene at high speed, the police have yet to confirm its involvement in the incident.
