Severe winter weather wreaked havoc on Montreal’s South Shore on a recent Thursday morning, leading to a string of traffic incidents, including multiple collisions and a significant pile-up on Route 132.
The pile-up, involving over a dozen vehicles near Highway 20, caused major traffic disruptions in the area, as reported by Quebec 511. Longueuil police (SPAL) attributed the incidents to challenging weather conditions, with thankfully no serious injuries reported.
While Route 132 has since reopened, authorities warn that hazardous conditions persist, especially around Route 132 and Highway 20 near the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, which are hot spots for traffic issues.
Snow still blankets the Greater Montreal roadways, prompting ongoing snow removal operations by authorities, as highlighted by data from the Sûreté du Québec. Transports Québec emphasized the importance of safe winter driving practices, advising motorists to slow down, stay cautious, and adjust their driving according to the weather conditions.
