“IIO Probes Controversial November Arrest by Surrey Police, Woman Detained”

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO) has launched an investigation into an incident involving a woman who was initially arrested and later released by the Surrey Police Service (SPS) back in November.

The woman sustained injuries during the arrest, prompting her to seek medical attention the following day. According to reports, the woman visited an SPS district office in Whalley on November 2 to have a conversation with officers, which ultimately culminated in her arrest outside the police station.

However, the officers decided to release her without pressing any charges and arranged for her transportation back home. Subsequently, the woman visited a hospital the next day to receive treatment for the injuries she allegedly suffered during the interaction with the police.

The IIO has stated that the woman’s injuries are considered serious and has initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain if the officers’ actions or lack thereof played a role in causing her harm.
