Toronto commuters are bracing for major transit challenges this Thursday as a heavy snowstorm blankets the city. The Line 6 Finch West LRT has been completely shut down, and multiple surface routes are experiencing delays.
According to Environment Canada, Toronto and the GTA could see up to 20 centimetres of snow accumulation by Thursday afternoon. The storm has already caused hazardous conditions, including heavy snowfall and blowing snow, making travel difficult for residents during the morning rush.
The TTC has confirmed that the Line 6 Finch West LRT is closed between Finch West and Humber College stations due to weather-related issues. Shuttle buses will be deployed to assist commuters, although no timeline has been provided for the resumption of service.
This weather-related closure is one of the most significant disruptions since the Line 6 Finch West LRT opened in December. The storm has impacted TTC operations ahead of the morning commute, leading to delays on major streetcar routes.
Although the affected routes are still running, travelers are advised to anticipate slower travel times and possible service bunching as snow plows and salt trucks strive to maintain passable road conditions.
