More snow this week, extreme cold this weekend in Montreal

Tuesday will be sunny, but blustery conditions will persist through the morning. West winds gusting to 60 kilometres per hour will gradually ease by midday.

Temperatures will remain steady near minus-9 Celsius, with wind chills as low as minus-22 C in the morning. Clear skies are expected Tuesday night, with a low of minus-13 C.

Snow returns Wednesday, with periods of snowfall throughout the day and a high of minus-6 C. Snow is expected to continue into the night, with temperatures holding steady near minus-7 C.

Cloudy skies dominate Thursday, with a milder high of minus-1 C. Clear conditions return overnight as temperatures dip to minus-11 C.

By Friday, clouds linger with a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of minus-8 C. Skies will break at times overnight, but colder air settles in, pushing lows down to minus-23 C.

A colder but brighter weekend is in store. Saturday is forecast to be sunny, with daytime highs near minus-17 C, while Sunday will be sunny with minus-15 C. Overnight lows will plunge to below minus 20s, reaching minus-24 C Saturday night.

Officials continue to advise caution during periods of strong winds and reduced visibility, particularly Monday evening, as sudden snow squalls could make travel hazardous across the region.
