A man from Oshawa is arrested for an armed robbery at a Cannabis dispensary.
On January 15, Durham Regional Police responded to a robbery at True North Cannabis Co. on Cedar Street. The suspect entered the store, brandishing a knife, and stole a cash register in broad daylight while threatening two employees. Fortunately, the staff were unharmed, and the perpetrator managed to escape before the authorities arrived.
Authorities located the man at a nearby residence, where he initially resisted arrest. Following negotiations, the Tactical Support Unit successfully apprehended the suspect.
Thomas Stavrou, aged 31, is now facing multiple charges, including robbery, possession of a weapon for a crime, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, disguise with intent, theft, and failure to comply with a release order.
Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.
