During a press conference at the National Assembly, François Legault emphasized that the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) stands out as the primary party capable of addressing both economic concerns and the preservation of the French language in Montreal, contrasting it with the Parti Québécois (PQ) and the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ).
Legault criticized his political opponents, asserting that the PQ lacked economic expertise and questioning the PLQ’s commitment to safeguarding the French language. He stressed the continued importance of the CAQ for Quebec’s future, citing the imperative to focus on the economy in the face of global challenges like those posed by the policies of former US President Donald Trump.
Addressing the recent departures of key figures from his government, Legault deemed such moves as routine in an election year and confidently stated that the CAQ maintained the most robust team of candidates. He refrained from endorsing any specific individual but expressed confidence in the party’s lineup.
Regarding the upcoming legislative session, Legault confirmed that there were no immediate plans to prorogue the National Assembly and underscored his commitment to advancing Quebec’s agenda despite the disruptions associated with the ongoing CAQ leadership transition.
