Mayor Shaun Collier of Ajax confirmed that a deliberate act of vandalism resulted in the destruction of fifteen trees at Millers Creek Park.
The incident, reported to Durham police, is currently under investigation, with plans for the damaged trees’ removal by Thursday. Replanting is scheduled for the upcoming spring season.
Expressing his dismay, Mayor Collier emphasized zero tolerance for such behavior, stating, “The Town is dedicated to safeguarding its parks and green areas. Vandalism not only harms our community investment but also deprives everyone of the joy these spaces offer.”
