Montreal police arrested a 34-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl in the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.
The incident occurred on Tuesday around 8:45 p.m. near Jarry Street and Belges Avenue, prompting a 911 call to SPVM. The suspect, identified as Nicolas Cupidon, reportedly threatened the victim but she managed to escape.
Following an investigation by the Nord project team and SPVM units, Cupidon was apprehended on Wednesday. He appeared in court on Thursday and faces charges including kidnapping a minor, confinement, making threats, and use of a false firearm.
In a statement, SPVM emphasized that the attempted kidnapping was an isolated incident, seeking to reassure the public.
