The Parti Québécois (PQ) is gearing up for potential confrontations with doctors as they prepare to present a draft program at their upcoming convention. The document, comprised of over 300 proposals, hints at changes in physician compensation methods and the potential banning of physician incorporation, a move that could ripple through the medical profession.
In a bid to solidify their platform for the next election, PQ activists are pushing for reforms that include supporting workers’ rights, facilitating unionization, and providing paid leave for victims of domestic and sexual violence. The party is also eyeing significant education reforms, such as establishing a National Education Commission and reshaping the school selection process.
Furthermore, the PQ’s agenda delves into issues like independence preparations, combating tax havens, and advocating for freedom of expression. On the immigration front, they are aiming to reduce immigration thresholds and overhaul various programs.
With climate change in focus, the PQ proposes the introduction of a carbon budget to track and reduce greenhouse gas emissions annually, alongside integrating environmental criteria into contract awarding processes.
