The United States Department of Homeland Security has expressed interest in acquiring a property owned by the real estate division of the well-known Vancouver-based Jim Pattison Group. The department aims to repurpose the building as a facility for Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
In a letter addressed to the Hanover County planning department in Hanover, Virginia, the department outlined its plans to procure, inhabit, and renovate the warehouse property for its intended use.
Situated in Richmond, Virginia, approximately a two-hour drive south of the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., the property has been under the ownership of Jim Pattison Developments since 2022, according to property records.
To suit its operational needs, the department has proposed various modifications, including the creation of designated holding and processing areas, along with enhancements to security measures and equipment.
The county authorities have been given a 30-day window to provide a response to the department’s request.
As of now, there has been no immediate response from the Jim Pattison Group or Jim Pattison Developments regarding this development.
