The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is eyeing a property owned by the real estate division of the Vancouver-based conglomerate, Jim Pattison Group, to convert into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
In a recent announcement, the department expressed its interest in purchasing and renovating a warehouse owned by Jim Pattison Developments in Richmond, Virginia, approximately a two-hour drive from the nation’s capital.
Records indicate that Jim Pattison Developments has owned the property since 2022. The department plans to make significant modifications to the building, including the addition of holding and processing areas, as well as enhancing security measures and equipment.
Hanover County, where the building is located, has been given a 30-day window to respond to the department’s proposal.
Both the Jim Pattison Group and Jim Pattison Developments have yet to provide any comments on the matter.
