Repair Works Close Sections of Vancouver’s Stanley Park Seawall
Major repair works are underway this week on two sections of the Seawall along the western edge of Stanley Park in Vancouver. These closures are necessary to address the damage caused by severe storms in December.
Attributing the damage to atmospheric rivers, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has announced the temporary closure of the waterfront path stretching from south of Ferguson Point to Prospect Point. However, access to Third Beach remains available through a designated gap.
“Third Beach is accessible from the parking lot,” the board reassured in a social media update.
The closure is expected to last until early morning on Friday, Jan. 30.
Previously, sections of the Seawall had to be closed for a week in late December due to heavy rains and high winds, and again for a two-day period as a result of freezing and thawing conditions.
Park visitors are urged to comply with closure signage, avoid the affected area, and follow the designated detour routes.
