An establishment in the heart of downtown Montreal fell victim to a suspected arson attack in the early hours of Tuesday.
Authorities in Montreal were alerted to the incident when a 911 call was placed at approximately 3:15 a.m., reporting a fire at a venue located on Crescent Street, close to Sainte-Catherine Street.
According to witnesses, multiple individuals were seen breaking a window, setting the fire, and then swiftly fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, the building’s sprinkler system managed to contain the flames before the arrival of firefighters. Detectives discovered incendiary materials at the site, highlighting previous criminal activities targeting the business.
Thankfully, no injuries were sustained during the incident, and law enforcement has yet to make any arrests.
The case has now been handed over to the SPVM arson unit for further investigation.
