Vancouver Canucks’ Goalie Thatcher Demko to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Hip Surgery
The Vancouver Canucks will be without their star goalie, Thatcher Demko, for the rest of the season. General Manager Patrik Allvin revealed on Tuesday that Demko needs to undergo hip surgery following an injury he suffered recently.
“We have made the decision, in consultation with our medical team and specialists, to have Thatcher Demko sidelined for the remainder of the year,” Allvin stated. The surgery has been scheduled for next week.
Demko, who has played in 20 games for the Canucks this season, holds an 8-10-0 record with a 2.90 goals-against average, a .897 save percentage, and one shutout. His last game was on Jan. 10.
Allvin confirmed that Demko will be back in action for the next season’s training camp in September after completing his rehabilitation.
