“Surrey Night Turns to Chaos: Police Nab Duo Following Midnight Gunfire”

Two individuals were taken into custody following an alleged shooting incident that occurred in Surrey early Monday morning.

According to a statement from the Surrey Police Service, law enforcement officers were present in the vicinity of 129 Street and 84 Avenue around 4 a.m. when they heard what sounded like a gunshot.

Upon locating a suspect vehicle, the officers successfully halted it and proceeded to arrest both the driver and a passenger.

A subsequent search led to the discovery and confiscation of a loaded handgun, as confirmed by the SPS on Tuesday.

In the aftermath of the apprehension, a 20-year-old male is facing charges related to dangerous operation of a vehicle, with both him and a 21-year-old male being charged for being in a vehicle where a firearm was present.

Authorities have indicated the possibility of additional charges as the investigation progresses, with the suspects slated to remain in custody until their court appearance scheduled for Friday, as per court documents.

Both individuals are identified as foreign nationals, prompting the involvement of the Canada Border Services Agency by the SPS.

Individuals who may have witnessed the incident or possess relevant CCTV or dashcam footage are urged to get in touch with the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, referencing file 26-8529 (SP).
