Montreal faces snow removal challenges as one-fourth of its equipment is in poor condition, leaving roads and sidewalks in a tough spot. Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada expressed surprise at the state of affairs, highlighting the need for a diagnostic to improve services. With over 1,200 snow-clearing pieces, a significant portion is in bad shape, causing concern among residents. While last year’s budget allocated $45 million for equipment repairs, the current administration has scaled back to $18 million, emphasizing the need for efficient resource utilization. Despite the hurdles, the city remains committed to addressing these challenges and enhancing snow removal efforts for its citizens.
