Police Identify Victim in Deadly Targeted Attack in Vaughan

Authorities have identified the victim of a deliberate shooting incident that took place in Vaughan on Monday.

Reports flooded in to the police regarding gunfire at a plaza located at the intersection of Winges and Rowntree Dairy roads, close to Highway 7 and Highway 400, just past 1 p.m.

Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement discovered a male individual who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a local business. Rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, the victim, identified as 65-year-old Sergio Lopes of Richmond Hill, succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of Lopes’ death has been confirmed as gunshot wounds. Following the shooting, officers were alerted to a burning vehicle on Kipling Avenue, situated north of Woodbridge Avenue.

The charred SUV matched the description of the vehicle seen fleeing the initial crime scene and was later verified to be the same one. Fortunately, no individuals were inside the vehicle, and there were no reported injuries.

While investigators suspect that the shooting was a targeted attack, no additional information about potential suspects has been disclosed.
