Residents in Uproar Over Chronic Heating Failures at High Park Apartment Complex

High Park Tenants Face Heating Challenges Amid Freezing Temperatures
A group of tenants residing in multiple apartment buildings in High Park are speaking up about persistent heating issues affecting their units, leaving them struggling to keep warm during the freezing cold weather.

Diana Jardine, one of the affected tenants, expressed her concern, stating that the temperature in her bedroom is only around 16 degrees Celsius. Desperate to stay warm, she shared with CityNews that she was on her way to purchase an additional space heater. Many tenants, including Jardine, have been enduring inadequate heating since the building management informed them about boiler changes last week.

One pregnant tenant, who chose to remain anonymous, described the challenges she faces, resorting to using tape to keep out the cold and being cautious not to overload her unit with space heaters to avoid a power outage. The situation has forced her to sleep in a smaller room for comfort.

Amidst overnight lows of -14 to -21 degrees Celsius, tenants in several buildings within the Grenadier Square apartment complex, managed by GWL Realty Advisors Residential, are reporting similar heating struggles. While management has provided space heaters to individual units, tenants express frustration over limited communication regarding the resolution timeline.

One resident shared his discomfort, revealing that even with a space heater running, his indoor temperature was only reaching 18 degrees Celsius. GWL Realty Advisors acknowledged the heating issues and assured residents that efforts are being made to rectify the situation promptly and safely. They emphasized that resident comfort and safety are top priorities and pledged to provide regular updates as they work towards restoring full heating performance across all buildings.
