Ali and Hina Islam fondly remember their relatives, Salman Afzaal, Madhia Salman, Talat Afzaal, and 15-year-old Yumna, who tragically lost their lives in a 2021 terrorist attack in London, Ont. The family, known as London’s “family,” came to Canada with aspirations to contribute to society. Despite the tragedy, their legacy of kindness lives on through silent acts of generosity. The family reflects on the progress made in combating Islamophobia over the past five years, acknowledging both personal growth and increased awareness. However, they express concern over rising hate incidents and emphasize the importance of unity against hatred.
