Authorities are currently probing a tragic incident of murder-suicide in a First Nation community located to the northeast of Montreal.
The investigation, spearheaded by Manawan law enforcement in partnership with Quebec provincial police, is ongoing.
Local police responded to an urgent call at a private residence within the Atikamekw community of Manawan on Sunday, where they made a grim discovery of two deceased individuals.
The victims have been identified as a 44-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman.
Tragically, the woman’s passing marks the fifth femicide reported in Quebec this month.
The Atikamekw Council of Manawan has extended its support and solidarity to the grieving community through a heartfelt message on social media.
