Toronto Police Foil Daring Escape: Man Nabbed for Impersonating Inmate in Bold Jailbreak Attempt!

Toronto authorities have captured a 32-year-old man who escaped from the Toronto South Detention Centre by assuming another prisoner’s identity, following a two-day search.

The incident unfolded on Monday night when the man, located near Horner Avenue and Kipling Avenue, pretended to be a fellow inmate set for release. He managed to deceive staff, received an ankle monitor, and left the facility just before midnight.

After removing the tracking device at a nearby gas station, a search was initiated, and the suspect, identified as Steven Alexander Guzman Marroquin, 32, of Toronto, was found by the Provincial ROPE Squad on Wednesday evening in the bustling Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East area.

Guzman Marroquin, facing charges including escape lawful custody and personation, was also apprehended for failing to comply with probation conditions. His court appearance was scheduled for Thursday.

Authorities urge anyone with further details to come forward to aid in the investigation.
