Nick Suzuki showcased his skills by scoring a power-play and short-handed goal, in addition to an assist, leading the Montreal Canadiens to a decisive 7-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche at the Bell Centre on Thursday night.
The Canadiens wasted no time as Noah Dobson netted the opening goal just 56 seconds into the game, setting the tone for a strong performance. Jake Evans and Kirby Dach added goals late in the second period, with Dach marking his return from a 31-game absence by finding the back of the net.
Alexandre Carrier and Juraj Slafkovsky further extended Montreal’s lead in the third period, sealing the win. Goalkeeper Jakub Dobes made 26 saves, continuing his stellar form with a record of 7-0-1 in his last eight starts.
On the opposing side, Brock Nelson, Joel Kiviranta, and Ross Colton managed to score for the Avalanche, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Montreal’s dominant performance. Scott Wedgewood, in his first start since January, faced 21 shots and struggled against the Canadiens’ offensive prowess.
Despite recent setbacks, including six losses in their last eight games, the Colorado Avalanche (35-8-9) remain at the top of the NHL standings. The team paid tribute to their past by donning powder blue Quebec Nordiques jerseys, a nod to their history before relocating to Denver.
